CHERRY HILL, N.J. - The Wisconsin women's lightweight rowing team competed in its first spring season race at The Knecht Cup on Cooper River on Sunday. This was Wisconsin's first time back since 2019.
After the first day of racing on Saturday was canceled due to high winds, the Badgers came prepared to tackle the second day of the race. On the second day, the team had nine boats competing with snagging wins in the frosh eight, novice four and third varsity eight.

Head Coach Hodge Habibovic
On race weekend:Â "This weekend's racing gave us a ton of data that we were looking for. Our team was tested in terms of their adaptability with Saturday's racing being canceled due to wind. I would say our group handled it very well and approached Sunday ready. Every boat learned something throughout racing which is crucial in our sport. We had some really strong performances and displayed our depth well by winning the freshmen eight, novice four and third varsity eight events which was exciting to see."
On looking ahead: "I think we have a good idea of what we want to accomplish as we head into the next few weeks and get some more racing opportunities. I'm excited to host Stanford next weekend and then get back on the East Coast in a few weeks."
Up next: The No. 6 Badgers will host No. 4 Stanford on Lake Mendota next Saturday, April 20.
