Former Central Arkansas guard joins Badgers

MADISON, Wis. — Cam Hunter, a 6-foot-3 guard, has signed with the Wisconsin men's basketball program, head coach Greg Gard announced on Sunday.

Rated a four-star transfer by 247Sports, Hunter played two seasons at Central Arkansas where he started all 60 games he appeared in. He was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Freshman of the Year and earned all-conference honors two straight seasons.

As a sophomore, Hunter averaged a team-high 16.9 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.5 steals per game. He shot 42.9 percent from the field and 79.6 percent at the free throw line. Hunter was named to the All-ASUN third team.

As a freshman, he averaged 14.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. Hunter was named Atlantic Sun Conference Freshman of the Year and earned first-team all-conference honors.

"We're excited to have Cam join our program. His skillset is a great addition to our team, but what also stood out to us is his character and work ethic," Gard said. "Cam joins us from Central Arkansas, where he worked his way up and showed off his talent. He had two straight all-conference seasons before injury sidelined him this past year. When watching Cam's game, we feel that he has a Big Ten body at the guard position that will translate here. We look forward to working with Cam to help him grow and continue to elevate his game here at Wisconsin."

Hunter did not play this past year due to a season-ending foot injury he suffered prior to the season.
