FAIRLEE, Vt. --Â The No. 15 Wisconsin Badgers closed out day two of competition at the Lake Morey Invite on Sunday morning.
Wisconsin raced against No. 13 Boston University and No. 10 Dartmouth. All three boats gained momentum following day one, but fell short in all three of their respective races against some of the top competition in the country.Â
The Badgers will now shift their focus to the Windermere Cup, where they will travel to Seattle for racing against No. 2 Washington and crews from the Italian National Team in a partial rematch from the Olympic races in "The Boys in the Boat."

Head Coach Beau Hoopman
"These double dual weekends would be difficult even if we hosted the racing. Â Three full-tilt 2k races in under 24 hours is daunting; add to that the planes, trains, and automobiles for us to get to the venue in Fairlee, Vermont, and it's downright ridiculous. But we manage, and the guys embrace it."
"This set of racing for the varsity was a little more hit/miss than the last double dual we had in California. The 2V/3V raced hard, but parity between the two is increasing. That's good for the young guys in the 3V getting faster, but we'll have to go back to the lab and sort some things out. The first and third races in the 1V were a little sub par for the progress we've been making during practice and the guys know that. The 2nd race in the afternoon, however, was an awesome piece, with some of the best base in the body of the piece that I've seen in some time. We held even with Dartmouth until the very last minute of the piece when the rate and pressure had to come up and we ended up slipping back about 3/4 of a length in the sprint.
"It was still very positive progress and it's something to work off of next week at Washington. This is a difficult stretch for the guys with back to back race weekends and exams coming up. It will be fun to see how they respond to the pressure when we're out in Seattle next Saturday."
