Badgers dam the Beavers
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. -- The No. 15 Wisconsin men's rowing team wrapped up the weekend at the Pac-12 Invitational Sunday morning with three wins.
Wisconsin took on No. 20 Oregon State after facing No. 1 California and No. 8 Stanford on Saturday where they came just short in multiple races.
The Badgers came to compete Sunday, taking all three races against the Beavers. The varsity eight, led by coxswain Jonah Rane, won by three seconds to kick off the morning. The other two boats followed in their footsteps, with the second varsity eight boat winning by two seconds and the third varsity each boat sneaking away with a one second win.

"We're a young team, so we went into the weekend with only one expectation: to get better each race; Learn from the prior race and apply one new aspect to the next race. With all these young guys and a majority of them novice or former novices, we've been trying to keep it simple. As we go through the season and grow, we'll sweat the details that make fast boats. Right now, it's just race. I think these guys did a great job avoiding a letdown race; it's the first time in a while we've had that.  You don't have to be happy with the results, but underperforming at this stage is what we're trying to avoid. They were consistent and each boat got faster each consecutive race and we were rewarded with three victories on Sunday."
Wisconsin is set to take three weeks off from competition, as they switch their focus to the Lake Morey Invite in Fairlee, Vermont on April 27.
