
Pair of Badgers Earn All-Region Honors

Blomberg and Kuszak named NFCA Great Lakes All-Region
MADISON, Wis. – Hilary Blomberg and Ava Kuszak of the Wisconsin softball team were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Great Lakes All-Region team, announced by the NFCA this afternoon.
Both Hilary Blomberg and Ava Kuszak continue to collect hardware as Blomberg was named Second Team Great Lakes All-Region and Kuszak earned Third Team honors. All-Region honors are a first for the Badger duo.
Blomberg is fresh off a 6-for-11, three home run, and nine RBI performance at the 2024 Big Ten Softball Tournament. For her performances, Blomberg was named to the Big Ten Tournament Team. The Verona (Wis.) native finished her freshman campaign with eight top-ten freshman program records. She now sits atop the list for the highest batting average as a freshman at .365 – a record that was previously held by Maria Van Able (2012). Blomberg also broke the doubles record, tallying 13 on the season. Other notable records she cracked the Top 10 in was highest slugging percentage (.613/2nd), total bases (84/3rd), RBI (35/4th), OPS (1.014/4th), home runs (7/T-6th), and on-base percentage (.401/7th). After the regular season, Blomberg was named First Team All-Big Ten and a unanimous selection to the Big Ten All-Freshman team.
Sophomore Ava Kuszak made the most of her second season as a Badger. Kuszak became an every day player in 2024, and finished with the second-best batting average (.318) for Wisconsin. Kuszak also led the team with 15 doubles and garnered the second-most RBI with 32. Her 15 doubles also ranked her sixth in the Big Ten. At the end of the season, Kuszak slashed a .318/50 hits/15 doubles/1 triple/9 home run/.599 slugging percentage/.377 on-base percentage.
