Here are five things to know going into championship weekend.
1. CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON: The Badgers have nine athletes ranked in the top 10 of their respective events heading into the Big Ten meet. Two weeks following Big Tens, UW turns its attention to the NCAA West First Rounds on May 22-25 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, before closing the season with the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships, June 5-8, in Eugene, Oregon.
2. THROWING DOWN WITH THE BADGERS: Wisconsin looks to score well in the throws this weekend, as graduate student Olivia Roberts and junior Asia Rave are both ranked in the top 10 of the hammer throw.
Roberts goes into the weekend ranked No.5 in the Big Ten with a personal best throw of 209 feet, 9 inches (63.93m), which places her second all-time at Wisconsin. Roberts finished second in the weight throw at the 2024 Big Ten Indoor Championships. Rave goes into the event ranked No. 9 in the conference with a personal-best mark of 194-11 (59.42m), landing her fifth on UW's all-time list.
Danni Langseth will compete in the shot put and discus throw following the hammer throw. She is sixth on UW's top-10 performance list and has a season-best of 53-11 ¾, ranking 11th in the Big Ten.
Chikere Oduocha set a personal-best toss in the discus at the Badger Challenge as her mark of 168-0 (51.21m) ranks seventh on UW's top-10 list and 12th in the conference.
3. ADDING A SPARK: Sprint star Kiley Robbins will compete in the 100 meters this weekend. Robbins is ranked No.4 in the Big Ten in the 100 meters with a season-best time of 11.26 seconds (wind-aided). Robbins holds the school record with a time of 11.44 seconds.
This winter, Robbins won her first Big Ten individual title in the 60-meter dash at the 2024 Big Ten Indoor Championships. She crossed the finish line in 7.22 seconds, a personal best time that improved her time as the school-record holder.
4. GOING THE DISTANCE: Wisconsin has some of the top entries in the distance and middle distance events, as four Badgers currently rank in the top 10 of their respective events.
Graduate student Madison Mooney will compete in the 1500 meters, ranking No.8 in the Big Ten with a time of 4 minutes, 15.95 seconds. Two athletes sit in scoring positions in the conference, competing in the 5,000 meters, as Leane Willemse and Maya Rayle come in at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively. Alexa Westley will compete in the 10,000 meters, coming off of a season-best time of 33:42.43 at the Wake Forest Invitational, which ranks No. 4 in the Big Ten.
5. MULTI-EVENT STANDOUTS: The Badgers have two top-10 performers in the heptathlon entering the championships. Sophomore Shaina Zinter leads the conference with 5,499 points this season. She finished fourth in the pentathlon at the indoor conference meet with a total score of 3,915 points.
