ST. PAUL – Wisconsin women's hockey players Britta Curl and Anna Wilgren  were selected in the 2024 Professional Women's Hockey League Draft on Monday

Curl was picked with the ninth overall pick by Minnesota while Wilgren was selected by Montreal in the fifth round. 

A two-time captain for the Badgers, Curl was a part of three NCAA title teams during her time in Madison and appeared in a program-record 181 games. The forward ended her career with 86 goals and 94 assists as her 180 points rank ninth in school history. Her 22 career power-play tallies rank seventh in the UW record books and her +157 plus/minus rating is the fifth-best mark. Curl recorded a program-best 10-game goal streak at the start of the 2023-24 season. She has been a mainstay with the U.S. national team as she has played in the last three International Ice Hockey Federation Women's World Championships, winning gold once and silver twice. 

A native of Hudson, Wisconsin, Wilgren appeared in 40 games for the Badgers this season, matching her career high of 24 points while setting a career-best +30 plus/minus rating. She helped anchor a Badger defense that led UW to its 10th WCHA tournament title and to the NCAA championship game. During her collegiate career at UW and Minnesota State, the blueliner recorded 14 goals and 52 assists. She also was a three-time captain while at Minnesota State and has represented the U.S. at the senior level. 

The duo join the 16 Badgers that played in the inaugural season of the PWHL, including Natalie Buchbinder, Mellissa Channell and Sophia (Shaver) Kunin who led Minnesota to the inaugural league title.
