Five Things to Know: Badgers to take on Oklahoma in Bad Boy Mowers Series - Milwaukee

UW faces OU in exhibition tilt at Fiserv Forum

MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men’s basketball team will take on Oklahoma in the Bad Boy Mowers Series - Milwaukee on Friday at Fiserv Forum. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. and tickets are available through TicketMaster. 

Fans making the trek to Milwaukee can come to the New Fashioned (1122 N Vel R. Phillips Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53203) from 5-7 p.m. for the official pregame fan event of Wisconsin Athletics, sponsored by UW Credit Union. The event will feature food and drinks for purchase, plus giveaways. 

Those not able to make it to Milwaukee can watch the action live on Big Ten Plus or listen to the Badger Radio Network as Chris Vosters and Brian Butch have the call.

1. RED-WHITE REWIND: The Badgers hosted their annual Red-White Scrimmage on Sunday at the Kohl Center. This year’s scrimmage featured a pair of 16-minute halves with a running clock as Team Red defeated Team White 46-44 thanks to a game-high 21 points from Nick Boyd. Fellow newbie Austin Rapp added 15 points for Team White while John Blackwell had 13 points and 7 rebounds. Nolan Winter chipped in 11 points, nine in the second stanza, for Team Red.

2. EXHIBITION TIDBITS: This year marks the first year that Division I teams can play up to two preseason exhibition games against any four-year school. Friday’s contest against the Sooners will be UW’s first exhibition contest against a fellow Division I school since facing Northern Iowa to open the 2017-18 season. Heading into Friday, UW holds a 62-4 record in exhibition contests and the Badgers have won their last 52 exhibition contests dating back to 1992.

3. AGAINST THE SOONERS: The Badgers lead the regular-season against the Sooners 6-4 after winning the last two contests against OU. The Badgers have posted a pair of 20-point wins in the last two meetings, a 90-70 win on Dec. 3, 2016 in Madison and a 78-58 victory in the Battle 4 Atlantis on Nov. 22, 2018. Badger head coach Greg Gard is a perfect 2-0 against the Sooners. 

4. BACK IN MKE: Friday marks the first of two games that Wisconsin will play in Milwaukee as UW will take on Villanova as a part of the Milwaukee Hoops Showdown on Friday, Dec. 19. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. and is the second game of a doubleheader that also features a matchup between UW-Milwaukee and South Dakota State. 5. UP NEXT: Wisconsin will wrap up its exhibition slate with a tilt against UW-Platteville on Wednesday at the Kohl Center. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. and tickets are available on UWBadgers.Com. The battle between in-state foes will be the ninth-annual Garding against Cancer contest as UW head coach Greg Gard will face off against his brother, UW-Platteville head coach Jeff Gard. 

Since December 2016, the Garding Against Cancer initiative has raised more than $9 million for cancer research and patient care across Wisconsin. The goals of the initiative aim to make a difference in the lives of researchers, patients, and families throughout the state.
