MADISON, Wis. - The No. 10 Wisconsin women's volleyball team is back in action on Wednesday, Nov. 19 to take on No. 11 Purdue at the UW Field House. First serve is set for 7:30 p.m. CT and will be televised on Big Ten Network. Wednesday's match will be the annual White Out Game in Madison.Â
The Badgers (20-4, 13-3) enter the week in a tie for second place for the Boilermakers (22-4, 13-3), fresh off of a pair of sweeps on the road against Michigan State and Illinois.
Outside hitter Mimi Colyer was the leader for UW, going on to win Big Ten Player of the Week for the fourth time this season and in the second consecutive week. The senior tallied 45 kills on the weekend, eclipsing the 20-kill mark in both matches. In the process, the Lincoln, California, native passed former UW great Dana Rettke in most kills in a season. Rettke finished with 413 in the 2019 season, as Colyer enters the week with 418 under her belt to move to fifth all-time in program history.Â
Sophomore Charlie Fuerbringer enjoyed a full weekend of action for the Badgers for her first time since coming off of injury—dishing out over 40 assists in each three-set match to win Big Ten Setter of the Week. Fuerbringer guided Wisconsin to a .398 hitting percentage against the Spartans on Friday night, the second-highest mark in their current five-match winning streak.Â
Outside hitter Una Vajagic put together one of her top weekends of the year from the outside hitter position, including a double-double against the Fighting Illini on Saturday night. Vajagic hit a career-best .611 (12 - 1 -18) on Friday versus Michigan State as well, complemented with 10 kills and 10 digs at Huff Hall to cap off the weekend.Â
Against the Boilermakers, the Badgers hold a 53-35 all-time series lead. During the Sheffield Era, Wisconsin is 16-5 when matching up against Purdue—going 3-1 over the course of the past four matches.Â
Last year, the Badgers swept the Boilermakers at Mackey Arena in a top-10 battle—holding Purdue to a hitting percentage below .100. Middle blocker Carter Booth led the way on the defensive end with nine blocks, recently recording a season-high 10 against Michigan State this past weekend.Â
After their match against Purdue, UW will host their final home match of the regular season and celebrate Senior Day on Sunday, Nov. 23 against Iowa at 1:00 p.m. CT. The match is set to be streamed on B1G+. The Badgers will be honoring Booth, Colyer, Alicia Andrew and Jada Cerniglia after the game concludes.Â
