Wisconsin hosts Senior Day at Soderholm

MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin Badgers swim and dive teams return to Soderholm for a senior day dual meet on Saturday. The No. 17 women's team will take on Illinois as the No. 20 men take on Purdue.

Before the Badgers take their mark, here's five things to know:

LAST TIME OUT

The Badgers split up for mid-season invites, with the swimmers heading down south to Austin for the Texas Invitational and the divers heading out to Columbus for the Ohio State Invite. Wisconsin put up strong performances at both invites, collecting three school records and 32 all-time top-10 performances.

ONE FOR THE RECORD BOOKS

A trio of seniors collected school records at the Texas Invite. Cooper Scharff set the stage on day three of competition, shattering the school record in the 100 fly with a time of 45.67. In the same session, Ben Wiegand collected himself a school record in the 100 breast, beating out the previous time by a hundredth of a second for a time of 51.83. On the last day of competition, Dominik Mark Torok broke his own record in the 200 fly in 1:40.07, shaving over a full second off his previous time.

SENIOR DAY ON DECK

Saturday's meet will be Senior Day celebration for the Badgers, honoring 13 student athletes who have made a lasting impact on the program. Eight seniors will be recognized on the men's side, including Charlie Jones, Jan Lanser, Michael Long, Cooper Scharff, Taiko Torepe-Ormsby, Dominik Mark Torok, Zach Ward and Ben Wiegand. Five seniors will be recognized on the women's side, including Hazal Ozkan, Abby Reid, Blair Stoneburg, Anna teDuits and Abby Wanezek.

LOOKING AHEAD

The dual against Purdue marks the Badgers final meet of the year. After the break, the Badgers will return to action as the swimmers head out to California to take on UCLA and UCSD in a tri-dual and the divers will head out to Florida to take on FIU on Jan. 3.
