MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin women's tennis team will head to Massachusetts over the weekend for some non-conference action against Boston College and Harvard. The Badgers will face Boston College on Friday, Feb. 14, at 3 p.m., followed by a match against Harvard on Saturday, Feb. 15, at 11 a.m.
The Badgers enter the weekend on a hot streak, having won their last four matches and starting the season 5-1—their best six-match start since the 2021-22 season.
In singles, Taylor Cataldi debuts at No. 82 this week in the ITA rankings after an impressive start to her season. Meanwhile, Maria Sholokhova, a fixture in the rankings since her sophomore year, is ranked No. 5 in the nation.
In doubles, Ellison Reynoldson and Taylor Cataldi have also made a strong start, earning a No. 37 national ranking as a duo.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES: The Eagles are coached by Nigel Bentley who has been with the team since 1999. They come into this match 3-4 on the season with wins against Army, UMASS, and Dartmouth. They have a roster made up of mostly New England area athletes and feature six upperclassmen on the squad with one graduate transfer, Nada Dimovska. Â
SCOUTING THE CRIMSON: Harvard is led by longtime head coach Traci Green who is in her 19th season in that position. Her tenure has been solid as she inherited a storied program, and kept the tradition of success going. She owns a 159-123 record at the helm. They have not started this season very well however, sporting a 3-5 record so far.Â
LAST TIME OUT: The Badgers went 2-0 in their trip to Kansas, defeating the Kansas Jayhawks and the Arkansas Razorbacks. They swept the Jayhawks, 7-0. The Razorbacks proved to be a difficult test for the Badgers, but in the end they were able to pull away with the victory 4-3.Â
UP NEXT: The Badgers will head to Minneapolis for a boder battle against the Minnesota Golden Gophers. That match will be played on Friday, Feb. 28th at 4 p.m.
