Badgers sweep in Boston

Wisconsin goes 2-0 out east

BOSTON, Mass. - The Wisconsin women's tennis team continued their dominance over non-conference opponents this weekend with a pair of victories out east. On Friday night the Badgers took on the Boston College Eagles, and handled them easily in a 7-0 sweep to start the weekend. The Badgers followed that up by sweeping the Harvard Crimson the next day, 4-0. The Badgers have won six games in a row, and will have their first Conference game of the season next week against the University of Minnesota.

The Badgers started Friday afternoon with a bang, leaving no doubt who the better doubles team was, winning the point easily. From there, they did not look back, sweeping their singles matches to win the game 7-0.

The next day, the Badgers took on the Harvard Crimson, and it was much of the same. The Badgers jumped out to a lead after battling the Crimson to win a tough doubles point. Once again the Badgers didn't lose a match in the singles portion, and finished their East coast trip with 4-0 victory over the Crimson, retiring the remaining matches.

Ariel Johnson was superb over the weekend, going 4-0 in her doubles and singles matches, and she clinched the win for the Badgers Saturday afternoon in her match against Angel You, 6-2, 6-2. Freshman Parker Christensen was also very impressive with wins in both doubles and singles matches over the weekend, proving that she is ready for the college competition.

The Badgers will take on their Big 10 rivals, the Minnesota Gophers next weekend Friday, February 28, at PM in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
