Badgers kick off Day 1 with a Top-5 finish

200 medley relay earns fourth place
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The men's Wisconsin swim and dive team started off the Big Ten Championships strong with a Top-5 finish in the 200 medley relay. 
The 200 medley relay team of Sam Lorenz, Ben Wiegand, Taiko Torepe-Ormsby and Cooper Scharff finished fourth with a time of 1:23.74 for an NCAA B cut.
In the second and final event of the day, the 800 free relay team of Chris Morris, Dominik Mark Torok, Yoav Romano and Luukas Vainio earned an NCAA A cut with a sixth-place finish and a time of 6:15.69.
In the time trials to finish the first session, Charlie Jones set a school record in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:41.29.
Competition resumes on Thursday, with prelims set to begin at 10 am and finals at 5 p.m. Day two includes the 500 freestyle, 200 IM, 50 freestyle, 1-meter diving and 200 freestyle relay.
