MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men's swimming and diving team will look toward championship season after finishing the Badger Invite and the regular season at the Soderholm Aquatic Center on Saturday afternoon.
Swimming against UW-Green Bay and UW-Milwaukee, the Badgers won every event. In the morning session,
Nathan Welker took home first in the 100 fly with a time of 46.97, with five Badgers following him all within two seconds. Dominik Mark-Torok finished first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:34.10, with five more Badgers following him.
In the 100 breaststroke,
Brayden Henkel finished just ahead of
Ben Wiegand as Henkel finished with a time of 53.70 and Wiegand with a time of 54.03. Coming down to tenths,
Cooper Scharff just out-touched
Sam Lorenz in the 100 backstroke.
Wrapping up the morning session for swimming,
Andrew Hanson completed the 1650 freestyle with a time of 15:37.82
During the diving session,
Jan Lanser competed on the 10m platform, finishing with a score of 301.95 points.
The afternoon session got started with the 200 backstroke, as
Nathan Welker set the pace, finishing with a time of 1:43.16, with
Finn Bacon and
Michael Long right behind him.
The 100 freestyle brought yet another close finish with
Chris Morris beating out
Andrew Benson by one-hundredth of a second for first place.
In the final event of the day,
Lance Swanepoel set a new personal best in the 200 fly with a time of 1:46.24 to take first place.
