
Badgers earn multiple All-American honors in final day of NCAA Championships

Bacon takes bronze in 200 backstroke
FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - The Wisconsin women's swimming & diving program wrapped up their 2024-25 campaign with a handful of All-American honors on day four of the NCAA Championships, including a third-place finish from Phoebe Bacon in the 200 backstroke.
Bacon swam the distance in one minute, 47.60 seconds, putting together one of the quickest performances in the Badgers' history to earn bronze in Washington.Â
In the same event, Maggie Wanezek took 13th with a time of 1:51.33. The freshman walked away with an Honorable Mention All-American award in her first season as a Badger.Â
Paige McKenna wrapped up her season with a top-10 finish in the 1650 freestyle, placing ninth in the competition by covering the distance in 15:52.21.Â
To round out the events for Wisconsin, the 400 freestyle relay earned 15th place en route to an Honorable Mention All-American honor to Abby Wanezek, Hailey Tierney, Abby Carlson and Blair Stoneburg. The unit finished with a time of 3:13.06. Â
The Badgers placed 12th with 126 points by the event's conclusion—emerging as the fourth-highest Big Ten team in the nation.
