SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Wisconsin men's track and field team started its weekend strong at the Mangrum Invite on Friday, March 28, hosted by Cal State San Marcos.
The most distinguished performance of the day was brought by sophomore
Jacob Zednik who won the javelin with a personal best of 217 feet, 8 inches (66.34m), moving up the ranks in the Wisconsin top-10 list from fourth to third.
In his season debut, Jake Scahefer placed third in the discus with a throw of 163-0 (49.68m), going 3-4 with
Andrew Stone who placed fourth with a mark of 162-6 (49.53). All-American shot put duo
Joseph White and
Jason Swarens rounded out the finals with White placing seventh with a throw of 159-5 (48.61m), while Swarens took eighth with a mark of 156-10 (47.82m).
Senior
Cole Hooper won the hammer throw, recording a mark of 202-8 (61.78m) out of a field of 17 competitors.
To round out the day for the Badgers,
Hunter Cook cleared 15-9 ¾ (4.82m) in the pole vault, securing third place.
