MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The No. 21 ranked women's soccer team handed Marquette its first loss of the season, earning a 2-1 road victory Sunday night.
How it Happened
First Half
The Badgers wasted no time getting on the board, as Erin Connolly headed home a goal just two minutes into the match.
Marquette answered in the 25th minute, converting a penalty kick to level the score at 1-1.
Goalkeeper Drew Stover came up with a key save in the 37th minute, making a diving stop to deny the Golden Eagles the lead.
Despite the halftime tie, Wisconsin dominated the opening period with a 10-2 edge in shots.
Second Half
In the 63rd minute, Hailey Baumann restored the Badgers' advantage by heading in a corner kick from Ashley Martinez.
Wisconsin controlled the match the rest of the way, finishing with advantages in shots (21-4), shots on goal (4-2), and corner kicks (5-3).
The win marks the program's first 4-0-0 start since at least 2008, with the Badgers hitting double-digit goals through four matches.
