Badgers blitz Huskies, 3-0

Wisconsin is 5-0-1 for the first time since 2018

MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin women's soccer team triumphed 3-0 over the NIU Huskies at McClimon on Thursday night. This now marks the first time since 2018 the team has opened 5-1-0.

How it Happened

First Half
The Badgers struck early as first-time starter Jenna Baumann delivered her second career goal in the 10th minute off an assist from Ashley Martinez.
   

Three minutes later, Brooke Allen doubled the lead off an assist from Hailey Baumann giving the Badgers a 2-0 advantage.
 

Wisconsin kept the pressure on and, in the 41st minute, capitalized on a free kick when Anya Gulbrandsen buried one to put the Badgers up 3-0 heading into the break.
   

UW dominated the first half leading in shots (11-1), shots on goal (6-0), and corners (6-1).

Second Half
Wisconsin kept control of the match in the second half leading shots (14-5), shots on goal (7-1), and corner kicks (5-2).

Drew Stover had two saves to earn her third shutout of the season and 12th of her career.

Through their first six games this season, the Badgers have scored 13 goals. The last time they opened a season with that kind of firepower was in 2014, when they scored 16 goals in six games.

Up Next 
UW will remain at home to host Colorado on Sunday, Sept. 7. for their last non-conference game of the season. This match will also serve as Senior Day. Kickoff is set for noon (CT) and will be streamed on B1G+.
