MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin Badgers women's swim and dive team successfully capped off the first meet of the season, sweeping Green Bay at the Soderholm Family Aquatic Center Friday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Badgers beat out Green Bay 219-75. Sophomore Maggie Wanezek found success on the night with first-place finishes in her events, finishing with a time of 1:55.28 in the 200 back and a time of 52.80 in the 100 back. Her sister, Abby Wanezek, also found success with a clean sweep of first-place finishes in her events, with a time of 1:49.46 in the 200 free and 50.19 in the 100 free.
Junior Hailey Tierney came out on top in both of her events, with a time of 23:19 in the 50 free and 55:33 in the 100 fly.
Freshman Brooke Corrigan made an impact on her collegiate debut, placing first in the 100 breast with a time of 1:01.53.
In the diving well, junior Julia Herring led the way in the 1-meter and Ryane Neal led the way in the 3-meter. Freshman Zara Karimi made a strong debut, placing third in the 1-meter.
UP NEXT
The Badgers will hit the road for a meet against Notre Dame and Michigan on Friday, Oct. 10, at 4 p.m.
