
Badgers named swimmer, freshman and diver of the week

Wanezek, Delmas and Neal collect first place finishes
MADISON, Wis. — Maggie Wanezek, Lucie Delmas and Ryane Neal of the Wisconsin women's swim and dive team received Big Ten Weekly Awards following the spring season opener, as announced by the conference on Wednesday afternoon.
Wanezek highlighted the meet with two individual event wins and helped two relays to first place in Wisconsin's win over UCLA, UC San Diego and Tulane. The sophomore tied her personal best in the 200 IM, touching the wall in 1:56.74. Her lead-off split in the 400 medley relay of 51.18 helped the team to a first place finish. This marks the Badgers' third award of her career.
Delmas collected Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors following her performance on Saturday. Delmas earned an individual event win, posting the quickest time in the 200 fly in 1:59.18. The freshman also touched the wall in 54.36 in the 100 fly for a third place finish. In the 400 medley relay, Delmas swam a 53.75 split in the butterfly leg to help the team to a fourth place finish.
Neal captured their first Big Ten Diver of the Week award of the season, leading the Badgers with an individual event win at the FIU Sprint Invite. Neal won the 3-meter with 267.30 points and finished 10th on the 1-meter with 233.80 points.
Looking ahead, the Badgers head to Evanston to take on Northwestern in a dual on Jan. 17.
