Maggie Wanezek claims the 200 back crown at B1G Championships

Lucie Delmas breaks the school record in the 200 fly
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — The No. 15 Wisconsin women's swim and dive team wrapped up competition at the Big Ten Championships in Minneapolis Saturday evening, finishing fourth overall for its fifth-consecutive season.
Highlighted by Maggie Wanezek's championship win in the 200 back to set a new Big Ten Meet record on the final day of competition, Wisconsin collected 893 overall points. Michigan finished in first with 1243 points, with Indiana and Ohio State rounding out the top three.
Wanezek took home All-Big Ten First Team honors thanks to her stand out performances. Abby Wanezek, Brooke Corrigan and Hailey Tierney earned All-Big Ten Second Team, as Corrigan, Justine Delmas and Lucie Delmas garnered All-Freshman Team accolades.
How it happened
Wanezek was crowned the Big Ten Champion in the 200 back with a time of 1:48.31, marking a new Big Ten meet record and top-three all-time finish at UW. Freshman Lily Van Heel followed up in the event's B final, finishing 10th overall in 1:54.75, just shy of her personal best.
Lucie Delmas flew out of the gates in the 200 fly to notch a speedy 1:54.07 finish, earning the freshman a podium finish. Delmas' time marks a new school record.
Stella Chapman picked up a win in the B final of the 200 IM, finishing in a lifetime best 1:56.90. The sophomore's time marks an eighth-best all-time finish at UW. Hazal Ozkan and Brooke Corrigan finished shortly behind in 13th and 15th, respectively.
Maddie Waggoner and Blair Stoneburg held strong in the 1650 free, coming in at eighth and 10th to end the night. Waggoner finished in 16:12.46 as Stoneburg came in at 16:16.44.
In the diving well, Ryane Neal showed out, picking up 210.85 points on the night to finish sixth in the platform consolation final.
Up next: The Badgers will head to the NCAA Championships in Atlanta, Georgia, on March 18-21.
