
Wisconsin finishes fifth at Big Ten Championships

Dominik Mark Torok claims sixth in the 200 fly
MADISON, Wis. — The No. 24 Wisconsin men's swim and dive team closed out the Big Ten Championships with a strong finish on Saturday in Madison. Wisconsin collected 832.5 points for a fifth overall finish. No. 6 Indiana placed first overall with 1544.5 points, as No. 4 Michigan and No. 11 Ohio State rounded out the top three.
Dominik Mark Torok, Yoav Romano, Enzo Solitario and Luukas Vainio all earned All-Big Ten Second Team honors thanks to their standout performances across the weekend. Solitario, Adam Graham, Drew Gaerthofner and Miles Cratsenberg garnered All-Big Ten Second Team accolades.
How it happened:
Torok and Solitario grabbed sixth and seventh-place finishes in the 200 fly in 1:40.56 and 1:40.96, respectively. Solitario's time moves him to a top-two all-time finish at UW.
Junior Nathan Welker built off of yesterday's success to earn a spot in the 200 back A finals, earning a seventh-place finish in 1:41.81. Graham and senior Michael Long followed up strong in the event's consolation finals, finishing in 11th and 16th.
Senior Ben Wiegand put together an impressive performance in the 100 free, grabbing an eighth-place finish in the A final in 42.74.
In the 1650 free, Cratsenberg led the Badgers in ninth with a 15:03.13 for a new lifetime best by over 20 seconds and a top-nine all-time finish at UW. Romano followed shortly behind in 10th place in 15:04.62 as Kelly came in 15th in 15:18.49.
The Wisconsin 400 free relay team of Wiegand, Solitario, Vainio and Cooper Scharff finished the meet strong with a sixth-place finish in 2:50.55. Vainio's 42.26 split helped the team to a top-two all-time finish at UW.

The Badgers will head to the NCAA Championships in Atlanta, Georgia, on March 25-28.
