Wisconsin travels to Notre Dame on Friday
1 – HOME SWEET HOME – After going 3-0 at Nielsen this weekend, Wisconsin improved to 4-0 at home, including three match sweeps. The Badgers cruised to a 6-1 victory over Western Michigan on Friday night before earning 4-0 victories against Omaha and Marquette on Sunday. UW won the doubles point in all three matches with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
Through three weeks this season, senior Michael Minasyan has earned the No. 75 spot in the Feb. 4 ITA rankings. Minasyan's most notable win came against then ranked No. 8 Devin Badenhorst from Baylor.
2 – FERDI'S ON FIRE – Ferdinand Kloesters may have dropped his first two matches of the spring, but since opening weekend the sophomore has posted an impressive 4-0 record. Kloesters earned straight set wins in all three matches over the weekend, going 36-10 in games played.
In doubles action Kloesters is 5-0 through six matches this season. At No. 2 doubles, Kloesters and Minasyan are a perfect 4-0, most recently defeating Marquette's duo 6-0.
3 – KNOW YOUR OPPONENT – Wisconsin is 19-53 in the all-time series against Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish extended their win streak to seven matches after a 7-0 victory last season. UW looks to hand Notre Dame its first loss of the season, as ND is currently 4-0. Senior Sebastian Dominko enters the match ranked No. 16 as of the Feb. 4 ITA rankings. He is 3-0 at the No. 1 spot for Notre Dame.
4 – FOLLOW THE ACTION – Wisconsin's third road match of the dual season will take place in Notre Dame, Indiana on Feb. 6 at 3 p.m. CT. Live stats and video coverage can be found at fightingirish.com. 5 – UP NEXT – The Badgers return to Nielsen for two matches over Valentine's Day weekend. Wisconsin will host DePaul on Friday, Feb. 13 and Purdue on Sunday, Feb. 15 at 5:30 p.m. CT and noon CT, respectively.
