
Wisconsin opens first day of competition at NCAA Championships

Wisconsin earns two All-American Honorable Mentions
ATLANTA — The No. 15 Wisconsin women's swim and dive team wrapped up the first day of competition at the NCAA Championships, competing in all three of the day's events.
Junior Maddie Waggoner kicked off competition for Wisconsin in the morning, placing 25th overall in the 1650 free. The junior touched the wall in 16:28.88.
In the day's relay events, the Wisconsin relay crew of Maggie Wanezek, Brooke Corrigan, Hailey Tierney and Abby Wanezek put together a strong showing to earn an All-American Honorable Mention. The Badgers collected a 12th place finish with a time of 1:35.39.
The 800 freestyle relay team of the Wanezek sisters, Izzy Enz and Blair Stoneburg closed out the day by placing 14th with the second All-American Honorable Mention for the Badgers, finishing in 7:01.09.
Competition will resume tomorrow morning with the 100 fly, 400 IM, 200 free, 100 breast and 200 free relay. Prelims begin at 9 a.m. (CT) and finals start at 5 p.m. (CT).
