No. 33 Wisconsin hosts No. 2 Ohio State and Penn State
1 – SUCCESSFUL ROAD TRIP – The Badgers traveled to the state of Indiana last weekend for matches against No. 64 Indiana and Purdue. In Friday's match against the Hoosiers, Wisconsin earned the doubles point and earned singles victories on courts one, four and five to secure the sweep. On Sunday, Purdue took an early 2-0 lead before the Badgers stormed back to win the match 4-2. Victories at No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, and No. 6 singles propelled the comeback.
2 – PAT IS PERFORMING AT NO. 1 – Patrik Meszaros added two more singles victories to his season total last weekend. The sophomore earned a straight-set victory against Indiana's No. 1 on Friday and dug out a three-set win against Purdue's Nour Fathalla on Sunday. Meszaros is now 5-0 when playing in the No. 1 slot for Wisconsin.
In doubles play, Meszaros went 1-1 on the weekend with his partner Matthew Fullerton. The duo earned a 6-4 victory over Indiana's No. 3 pairing on Friday, but fell to Purdue on Sunday. In dual matches, Fullerton and Meszaros are 11-6, with a 6-4 conference record.
3 – KNOW YOUR OPPONENTS – Ohio State leads the all-time series against Wisconsin 55-32. The Buckeyes secured a 4-0 sweep over the Badgers when the teams met last season. OSU has been dominant this spring, posting a 25-3 overall record and standing atop the Big Ten with a 10-1 conference record. At No. 12, Aidan Kim is the highest of the five-ranked Buckeyes in the most recent ITA singles rankings. The partnership of Brandon Carpico and Nikita Filin is ranked No. 3 in doubles.
The Badgers hold a 25-11 edge in the all-time series against the Nittany Lions. When the two squads met last spring, Wisconsin earned a gritty 4-3 victory. Penn State has a 16-11 overall record and is 3-8 in conference matches this season.
