UW drops game two of weekend
AUSTIN, Texas - The Wisconsin softball team fell in the second round of the NCAA Regional to No. 3 Texas, losing in six innings with a 9-0 final score.Â
After the Badgers stranded a runner in scoring position in the first inning, the Longhorns posted three runs in the bottom half of the frame to take an early advantage. Texas' Reese Atwood provided the highlight of the inning, launching a two-run blast over the left field wall.Â
The Longhorns went on to add two runs in both the second and third inning, knocking both senior Shelby Jacobson and freshman Berritt Herr out of the game with a 7-0 lead.Â
UW's offense struggled against the likes of All-American Teagan Kavan, as the junior tallied eight strikeouts while working around one walk and one hit.Â
Junior Alivia Bark recorded the Badgers' lone hit of game one of the day, barreling a single up the middle in the top of the fifth. Â
In the circle, sophomore Jordan Felci quieted the Texas offense for a pair of innings to extend the game. Longhorns' Kayden Henry capped off the game with a two-run home run to secure the run-rule win and punch the first ticket to the NCAA Regional Final.Â
