Biography
2017-18 (Senior): Sat four seat in the third varsity eight against Northeastern, finishing behind the Huskies with a time of six minutes, 17 seconds... sat five seat with the four varsity eight that placed fourth in the grand final of the Eastern Sprints... rowed with the first varsity four at the Head of the Charles, helping the Badgers to an 18th-place finish.. helped the second varsity eight to a sixth-place finish at the Princeton Chase with a time of 12 minutes, 50 seconds... also competed with the third varsity four at the Princeton Chase
2016-17 (Junior): Raced with the varsity eight to ninth place at Head of the Charles in October … rowed with the varsity eight in all three races at the Stanford Invite, earning a win and two second-place finishes … came in second place at the Cochrance/Jablonic Cup with the varsity eight … raced to second place for the Congram Cup … rowed with the eight that placed third in the petite final of the Eastern Sprints … placed 13th at the IRA National Championships with the varsity eight … placed fourth with both a four and an eight at the Princeton Chase in the fall
2015-16 (Sophomore): Competed regularly with the third varsity eight, helping the boat to a first place finish in the petite final at the IRA National Championships and a sixth place finish at the Eastern Sprints... also took first at the Stanford Invite and the Devil's Lake Dual... raced to a second place finish against Boston and a second place finish against Northeastern... competed in five seat at the Princeton Chase in the fall... raced with the varsity eight that took second place at Syracuse in April.
2014-15 (Freshman): Rowed in the three and four seat for the freshmen eight that finished second at both the Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championships and EARC Sprints as well as raced in the Devil’s Lake Challenge and Stanford Invitational…raced for the second freshmen eight that finished second at the Head of Huron, which included Illinois, Michigan and Michigan State.
Personal: Parents are Tom and Ilene Kernozek … has one sister, Nicole … major is nuclear engineering.
High School: Graduated from La Crosse Central … three-year letterwinner in soccer … three-year letter winner in alpine skiing … three-year letterwinner in track and field.
Reason for choosing UW-Madison: "It’s a big school with lots of resources and the ability to satisfy any of my interests."
