High School: Dutil attended Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, Massachusetts, and is a native of Saint-Georges, Quebec. He has club team experience playing with Chaudiere-Est Armada AAA, Provincial Games and FC STARS of Massachusetts. As a high school senior at Cushing Academy, Dutil was a team captain and earned Senior All-Star accolades from the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC). He made a school-record 14 saves in a game that season and went on to be named Defensive Most Valuable Player by his team. As a junior at Cushing Academy, he was recognized as a Junior NEPSAC All-Star and earned Defensive MVP honors from his team. Dutil was also named Defensive MVP by his team as a sophomore. He competed in golf, hockey and skiing, as well.
A 2015 Boston Globe All-Scholastics honoree and a three-time Honor Roll student, Dutil intends to major in the school of business at Wisconsin. His parents are Charles Dutil and Sylvie Labrosse. He has a brother, Antoine, and a sister, Gabrielle.
Head Coach John Trask: “Nicolas is an extremely talented athlete. We feel that once he is acclimated to collegiate soccer, he has a chance to become a truly outstanding goalkeeper. Nicolas will have an excellent opportunity to develop with our volunteer assistant and goalkeeper coach, Tim Borruff. Nicolas has been well trained by his coach Matthew Shea at the Cushing Academy and we are excited that he will be joining us this coming fall.”
Associate Head Coach Keith Tiemeyer: “Nicolas joins Wisconsin from the prestigious Cushing Academy where he was teammates with fellow incoming freshman, Alejandro Estrelles Hernanz. He was an all-star at Cushing and brings great potential as a future Badger goalkeeper.”
