Head coach Marisa Moseley welcomed Mitch Simmons to Madison as the Director of Operations in May 2021.

“I am incredibly excited and honored to be joining Coach Moseley and the rest of the staff at Wisconsin. Coach Moseley is a dynamic leader and I am ready to help execute her vision of what Badger women’s basketball can become while aiding in her commitment to the student-athlete experience.”

In his role at Wisconsin, Simmons serves as the primary day-to-day administrator within the basketball office, coordinating team travel, and is responsible for the women’s basketball operations budget. He serves as a liaison to administration, brand communications, compliance, marketing, ticketing, the W Club along with various others. In addition, he provides support for a variety of daily operations including managing the teams schedule, supervising student-athlete development activities while also assisting with the coordination of on-campus recruiting activities, camps and the annual WBB golf outing.

Prior to Wisconsin, Simmons was the Director of Operations for the women’s basketball program at Boston University for three seasons under Moseley’s direction. He handled day-to-day operations of the program, all team and recruiting travel, and assisted across departments at the program and campus level. Over the course of three years, the Terriers had three straight winning seasons and made a conference championship game appearance in 2020-21.

Preceding his time in Boston, Simmons served as the head manager for the UConn women’s basketball program. While at UConn, Simmons fulfilled all managerial duties while leading and directing other managers in all aspects of daily practice and game day responsibilities to ensure the resolution of coach, player and athletic staff inquiries. During that time, the Huskies won eight conference championships (regular and post-season), appeared in four Final Fours and won two National Championships.

A native of Hartland, Vermont, Simmons graduated from UConn in 2018 with a dual degree in allied health sciences and sport management. He completed his master’s in education leadership and policy analysis with a concentration in higher education administration from Boston University in 2021.
