BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Wisconsin had three players finish with over 100 yards, including two 100-yard rushers, as the Badgers defeated Indiana on the road, 31-28, Saturday afternoon in Bloomington. Sophomore running back John Clay finished with 15 carries for 134 yards and a touchdown, freshman running back Montee Ball had 27 carries for 115 yards and two touchdowns while sophomore wide receiver Nick Toon grabbed five passes for 123 yards.
With the win, Wisconsin improves to 7-2 overall and 4-2 in the Big Ten while Indiana drops to 4-6, 1-5.

The Badgers had a season-high 488 yards of total offense, including 294 on the ground. The Badger defense limited Indiana to just 63 rushing yards, but the Hoosiers totaled 323 yards through the air.
Junior quarterback Scott Tolzien also had a productive day, going 11-of-20 for 194 yards. He threw one touchdown pass and no interceptions. Indiana quarterback Ben Chappell finished 25-35 for 323 yards. He had three touchdown passes and two interceptions.
Defensively, freshman linebacker Chris Borland led the Badgers with nine tackles, 1.0 TFLs for a loss of three yards and one interception. Sophomore cornerback Devin Smith finished with eight tackles.
Indiana got on the board first at the expense of a UW turnover. David Gilreath muffed a Hoosier punt on their opening drive as he called for a fair catch and the ball bounced out of his hands. Indiana recovered and started its second drive at the UW 10-yard line. Two plays later, Ben Chappell found Tandon Doss for an 11-yard TD pass to take the 7-0 lead.
On Wisconsin's next possession Clay burst through for a 48-yard run on the first play of the drive. Four plays later, Tolzien found Isaac Anderson wide open in the end zone for an 18-yard touchdown.
Wisconsin ate up 8:23 of clock on its next possession but only came away with three points thanks to a 26-yard field goal by Philip Welch. The Badgers used 18 plays to drive 72 yards and that was the longest scoring drive of the season for the Badgers in terms of plays and time. Wisconsin appeared to have a touchdown as Tolzien found Lance Kendricks in the end zone, but an offensive pass interference call wiped out the touchdown.
On Indiana's next drive, the Hoosiers made it to the UW 38 but on the fourth play of the drive, Chris Maragos picked off a Chappell pass for his fourth interception of the season. Wisconsin faced third and four from the UW 25 on the ensuing drive, and Tolzien found Toon for a 33-yard pass to pick up a first down. That kept the drive alive for Wisconsin and seven plays later, Ball scored his first touchdown of the day on a 1-yard run to put the Badgers up 17-7.
Indiana got on the board once more before halftime as Chappell threw a 46-yard touchdown pass to Doss for his second score of the day.
Wisconsin responded though, as Clay capped off a six-play, 49-yard drive with a touchdown. Clay rushed 14 yards into the end zone to give the Badgers the 24-14 lead heading into halftime.
Indiana had the ball to start the second half and drove all the way to UW 16 before Borland picked off another Chappell pass. Wisconsin was unable to convert the turnover into points and neither team scored in the third quarter.
Indiana faced fourth and five from the UW 39 in the opening minute of the fourth quarter and converted on a 30-yard Chappell pass to Damarlo Belcher. Shortly after, Chappell threw another TD pass, this time a 3-yard pass to Terrance Turner. The touchdown capped off an 11-play 81 yard drive for the Hoosiers, to put them within three (24-21) with 12:00 remaining.
Once again, Wisconsin responded with a touchdown on its next drive. Tolzien found Toon again for another big third down, this time throwing it 44 yards to keep the drive alive. Ball had three carries before finishing the drive with a 3-yard TD run.
Down 31-21 with 8:18 remaining, Indiana drove the field again for a score. The Hoosiers used a 12-play, 80-yard drive and a Trea Burgess 2-yard TD run to come within three points again (31-28) with 4:01 remaining.
Wisconsin then picked up three first downs in its final drive of the game to ice the 31-28 victory.
