Off the head of freshman Alev Kelter, Wisconsin (4-2-1) defeated DePaul (4-2-2) Sunday afternoon in a thrilling 2-1 victory. Kelter headed two goals for the Badgers come-from-behind win, including one in the final minute and a half, to keep UW unbeaten on its home field (4-0-1).

'It's good to get the result we did. The performance at the end was the difference especially to get two big goals,' said Wisconsin head coach Paula Wilkins. 'It's good to see a freshman step up. She played hard and deserved it. Our defense continues to play well and give credit to Depaul for a great restart. '

Wisconsin outshot Depaul 5-1 in the first half including a close scoring opportunity seven minutes into the first half. After a scramble in the net, Laurie Nosbusch put up a shot that was blocked and Darcy Riley attemted a shot on the rebound but Depaul's Claire Hanold came up with the save.

After a scoreless first half, both teams came out fighting as DePaul's Tara Strickland scored the first goal of the day in the 54th minute of play. Strickland made the shot over the head of Wisconsin's keeper Michele Dalton on a free kick from 25 yards out.

Wisconsin answered in the 76th minute to knot the score at 1. UW capitalized on a corner kick from Meghan Flannery on the far side allowing Kelter to head the ball from the near post off the corner for the score.

The defensive battle continued with DePaul up 1-0. In the 81st minute DePaul's Jenna Fagerman got a clean shot off that Dalton made a huge diving save to keep the game tied, and giving UW a chance to win.

In the final minutes of the game came the duo of Flannery and Kelter came up strong for the Badgers in the 89th minute of play to break the 1-1 tie. With a repeat of the earlier goal, Kelter headed the ball beating Hanold to the right corner from the far post. 'She makes it easy. All I had to do was tap it in,' Kelter said about Flannery setting up her goals.
