TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Badger softball team (0-4) fell to Creighton (1-3) 7-0 at the Tempe Sports Complex Saturday morning in the Kajikawa Classic.

After a scoreless first inning, Creighton scored at least one run in each of the last six innings.

CU tallied its first run when Lauren Larson hit a solo home run to left field in the second inning off Wisconsin starter, senior Letty Olivarez.

The Bluejays added to their total in the third inning when Renae Sinkler went the opposite way for a solo home run, making Creighton’s lead 2-0.

After tacking on a third run in the fourth inning, Sinkler drilled her second shot of the game in the fifth inning, this time to left field. The two-run homer put Creighton up 5-0.
 
Creighton tacked on two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to end up with its final margin.

The Badgers’ best scoring opportunity came in the top of the fifth.

With sophomore Karla Powell on second, freshman Kendall Grimm grounded out to third, advancing Powell to third. With two outs, junior Jennifer Krueger came to the plate, drew a walk and then stole second. The inning ended though as sophomore Jordan Skinner struck out.

The Badgers were led at the dish by freshman Shannel Blackshear, who was 2-for-2 with a walk. Fellow freshman Molly Spence had the other Wisconsin knock.

Olivarez went five innings, giving up seven hits and five runs, four of which were earned. She struck out three Creighton hitters, while walking two.

Creighton starter Tara Oltman, a three-time Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Year, scattered three hits over seven innings of work while striking out nine and walking three to earn the win.

The Badgers return to the field at 4 p.m. (CT) this afternoon to face Cal State Fullerton.
