MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin diving team finished the final day of the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships in Austin, Texas Sunday. It was also the last chance for sophomores Roxanne Fitter and Michael Ross to score high enough for a spot at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
Fitter qualified for the finals for the second day in a row with her 12th-place finish on the platform (224.30). She finished in the same place in the final round with a combined score of 443.85.
Fitter and senior Ciara Rinaudo are looking to secure two of 11 possible spots at the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships next weekend, Mar. 17-19, also in Austin.
Ross, meanwhile, moved on in the men's platform competition with his score of 286.40 in the preliminary round, good for ninth place. He matched that finish in the final round for his third-straight top-10 mark to end the weekend and a combined score of 568.40.
Ross is looking to get one of seven spots at the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, Mar. 24-26 in Minneapolis.
The list of selected divers for both championships will be published on Monday.
