MADISON, Wis. -- Playing in its first overtime game of the season, the Wisconsin women's soccer team battled Michigan to a 0-0 draw following two extra sessions Sunday afternoon at U-M Soccer Stadium in Ann Arbor, Mich.

It was the first overtime game for Wisconsin since the second round of the NCAA Tournament last season.

 Fast Facts
• Badgers move to 2-0-1 in Big Ten for second straight year
• Dalton posts fourth shutout of the season
• Nosbusch leads Wisconsin with five shots

"I was pleased with our performance; I think it was even better than it was on Friday night," Wisconsin head coach Paula Wilkins said. "For being on the second day, it's always challenging in the Big Ten physically, so I was happy. Even in the second half we were better.

"We did enough to win this game, so to leave here with a tie it does feel a little bit like a loss, though."

With the tie, the Badgers sit at 7-3-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the Big Ten, while Michigan is now 6-3-2 and 1-1-1. It's the second-straight season that Wisconsin has started the Big Ten 2-0-1.

"These first couple of games have been challenging to play teams that are going to be at the top of the Big Ten, so to be where we are right now, I'm pleased with it," Wilkins said. "You never like to drop two points, but I think we're still in control of what we need to do this season."

The Badgers outshot the Wolverines, 23-11, and held a 7-3 edge in shots on goal.

Senior Laurie Nosbusch led Wisconsin with five shots on the day, while freshman Cara Walls had a team-high two shots land on net.

In goal, Michele Dalton stopped three shots to post her fourth shutout of the season for Wisconsin. Michigan's Haley Kopmeyer had seven saves, including three in overtime.

"I thought their keeper made one brilliant save in overtime off of a throw-in that kept them in the game," Wilkins said. "We definitely had the chances. Laurie had a couple of chances in front of the net and Cara had a couple, too. I think we generated more chances than we had in the past couple of games."

After a relatively even first half that saw the Badgers outshoot the Wolverines, 6-5, Wisconsin turned up the pressure in the second half. UW posted 10 shots compared to just three for Michigan.

Overtime saw the Badgers attempt seven shots, while the Wolverines had three.

"I thought this was one of their best games," Wilkins said of her team's defensive effort. "Obviously playing their big forward, Nkem Ezurike, is always a challenge; as is Clare Stachel.

"To come in on the second day, being more tired and dealing with the dangerous weapons that Michigan has, I was pleased to get the shutout."

Wisconsin is back in action with a pair of home games this coming week. The Badgers host Minnesota on Thursday night at 7 p.m., before taking part in the annual PAC the MAC event on Sunday afternoon against Ohio State. The game against the Buckeyes will air live on BTN at 1 p.m.
