MADISON, Wis. -- A late goal sealed the fate of the Wisconsin men's soccer team, which fell to Ohio State in a 2-0 final under the lights of the McClimon Complex on Saturday night.

The Badgers (2-9-2, 0-5-0 Big Ten) recorded nine of their 12 shots in the second half, including three in the game's final 10 minutes, but were unable to capitalize.

Things fared better for the Buckeyes (5-5-3, 3-2-0 Big Ten), who scored once in the first half, then tacked on a late goal in the 90th minute to put away the victory.

"Ohio State is tough to break down. It seemed like we were going to get something with what we were doing out there," UW head coach John Trask said. "But, as I've said before, soccer can be a cruel game. Just because you dominate territory or dominate possession, at the end of the day it's about putting the ball in the goal, which isn't always an easy thing to do."

 Fast Facts
• UW shut out for just the third time this season
• Badgers post nine of 12 shots in the second half
• Remeniuk earns ninth start, records four saves

The Badgers displayed strong ball control throughout the game and tied OSU with seven corner kicks on the night, but were unable to capitalize on any opportunities.

In the 25th minute, Tom Barlow found the back of the cage and had appeared to give UW an early 1-0 lead, but his score was called off and the freshman ruled offside.

Christian Soldat earned his first goal of the season in the 35th minute, using the header to beat UW goalkeeper Adrian Remeniuk for the score. Marcus McCrary was credited with the assist.

Remeniuk (2-6-1) earned his ninth start of the season and finished the game with four saves, but allowed two goals in the loss.

McCrary finished off the win in the final seconds at the 89:06 mark, as he took the assist from Yianni Sarris and beat Remeniuk far post for his second goal of the season.

Eight different Badgers tallied shots, including Barlow, Mike Catalano, Drew Conner and Adam Lauko recording two each.

Coming up empty, however, the loss marked just the third time this season UW has been shut out.

Wisconsin returns to action on Oct. 22 when it hosts Milwaukee.
