MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women's soccer team makes its final road trip of the regular season this weekend, as the Badgers travel to face Maryland for a game on Saturday night in College Park.
The Badgers (10-4-3, 7-1-1 Big Ten) look to keep things rolling against the Terrapins (6-10-1, 1-7-1), who enter the match with the momentum of their first win in Big Ten play against Michigan State at home on Wednesday.Â
The Terps are led by Alex Anthony, who leads the Big Ten in goals this season with 10. The next closest in points is Shannon Collins with five so far this season, followed by seven other Terps with one goal apiece.
Defensively, goalkeeper Rachelle Beanlands has started 16 games for Maryland and holds a 6-9-1 record. The senior recorded her fourth shutout of the year against Michigan State earlier this week.
For Wisconsin, the Badgers enter the game on a seven game winning streak and look to keep momentum going. Now in sole possession of first place in the Big Ten standings, a win on Saturday would clinch at least a share of the regular season title for the Badgers.
This marks just the second all-time meeting between Wisconsin and Maryland. The Terps joined the Big Ten last season and the two programs met for the first time in Madison. A tightly contested game that became a defensive battle, it took overtime before
Kodee Williams scored the game-winning goal that clinched a win for the Badgers.
Wisconsin and Maryland kick off at 6 p.m. (CT) in College Park. Fans can follow along with live stats provided by Maryland and, as always, there will be in-game updates on Twitter (@BadgerWSoccer).
