LAS VEGAS -  After dropping two close games on Saturday, the Badgers wrapped up the Alexis Park Resort Classic in winning fashion on Sunday, topping DePaul in a 9-0 shutout.

Wisconsin closed out tournament action in Las Vegas with a 1-4 record and now is 6-10 on the season.

Junior Taylor-Paige Stewart held the Blue Demons (6-12) scoreless in route to the Badgers' second shutout of the season. Stewart went six innings for the Cardinal and White, tallying five strikeouts while allowing just three hits.

UW outhit DePaul 8-3 and six different Badgers recorded a hit in the game, with senior Maria Van Abel and freshman Samantha Arents leading the way with two apiece. Ashley Van Zeeland collected a triple and both Marissa Mersch and Arents recorded doubles.

Both teams went scoreless through the first two innings, but that all changed in the third when Van Zeeland stepped up to bat with the bases loaded. The junior slammed a triple to center field to drive in three runners to give UW a 3-0 lead. Arents brought Van Zeeland home with a single to left to give Wisconsin a 4-0 lead.

In the top of the fifth inning, Arents doubled to right center to bring in Van Zeeland and push UW to a 5-0 lead. Later in the inning, junior Katie Christner hit a sac fly to bring home sophomore Nyah Rodman, putting UW up 6-0.

Senior Megan Tancill walked and sophomore Chloe Miller reached on a field error to begin the sixth, which set up an opportunity for Mersch. The senior doubled driving in Tancill and Miller to give the Badgers an 8-0 lead. Freshman Kelsey Jenkins followed with a double of her own to bring in Mersch and seal UW's 9-0 triumph.

UW recorded three stolen bases in the game and committed no errors. The Blue Demons tallied two miscues.

Up next for Wisconsin is the USF Under Armour Showcase, held March 6-8, in Tampa, Florida. The Badgers will face Portland State (10:15 a.m.) and USF (12:45 p.m.) on the first day of the tournament. UW will also play against Central Michigan, Seton Hall and Boston College.
