Postgame Quotes vs. Nebraska

Wilkins and players address the media

Head Coach Paula Wilkins

On her overall thoughts of the game:
"I'm proud of the team to come back from being 1-0 down. Coming away from this game I think Nebraska is a really good team, well organized and has really dangerous players Caroline Flynn and Jaycie Johnson up front. I thought we did a pretty good job, we knew they were going to be good on set pieces and I thought we needed to be better with the details and I think that it's something we can learn from this game moving forward and that's going to be important. I like the battle the team brought today and the effort and every time we have that little better effort it's exciting so now we have to make it into results."

On Sunday's senior day:
"There's a lot of the season left to play. I think it will be a nice tribute to them, they've done a lot for the program but I do think that the best way you can ever represent your seniors is by a win. I think that will be the focus. Again, we will go back and talk about the process and hopefully we get that right and the details right and the result will happen."

Freshman Forward Dani Rhodes

On scoring the equalizing goal:
"I definitely knew I had a good chance at it. The girls kept dropping back and I kept seeing space open up so as I got closer I knew I had to hit a shot. Actually the other day in practice I hit the same thing so I kind of had a good feeling."

On coming from behind after giving up a first half goal:
"We always talk as a team how we are going to face adversity every game and it's just a matter of how we bounce back from it so I think that at halftime we got all together and we knew that we couldn't let it up. We are a great second half team and I think we came out strong and we controlled the second half and that's why we were able to get another goal and control most of the game after that."

On what can be improved before Sunday's game:
"A lot of rest, I think. Girls worked hard tonight. Effort was definitely there. I think we have to bring that same mentality for Iowa on Sunday. Just keep staying strong. We need to finish out a game. I think that's what's most important. Every game's a new challenge, I think we just have to keep rising to the occasion."

Senior Defender Kylie Schwarz

On the back line's resiliency:
"I think as defenders and especially as centerbacks this is our key game because we love to battle so much. I know I love when it gets wet and slippery and I'm sliding everywhere. I love that battle aspect of the Big Ten. They have great forwards and I know we have to bring the same thing for Iowa. We just gotta stay tight and just kind of work for each other and do what we do in practice every single day and just try to stay consistent and keep the ball out of the net."

On slowing Johnson down:
"We were definitely aware of her. We definitely talked about her before the game and prepare for that. I just think that me and Jamie just kind of treat her like any other forward. We've played against good forwards before. Minnesota had a couple good forwards so we don't really treat anyone differently. We kind of all treat them with the same respect if we were playing Stanford or if we were playing a smaller school but we just have to stay tight, stay smart. We are here for a reason, we are defenders for a reason and we just have to do our job."

On her relationship with Jamie:
"Jamie's awesome. We both kind of play the same. We just battle and, it's funny because we are probably the smallest out there on the field and I'm sure the other team looks at us and laughs and just oh these small center backs but we just like to battle and we work well together and we are really close off the field, too, so I think that helps a lot. Our whole back line is really close off the field and I think that just gelling together off the field really helps us stay strong and stay tight to all of those forwards and keep them from scoring goals.

On being a senior and upcoming senior day:
"I have not thought about it at all and it hasn't really hit me yet that I'm a senior, so I'm sure that senior day will definitely hit me hard and I'll kind of realize what it really means but I'm just kind of enjoying every practice, every moment right now. I'm going to miss the freshman a lot even known them that long and everybody else too. We shall see, but hopefully a win is included in senior day. That would be awesome, I don't know, but I'm excited!"
