CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Sunday brought the end of competition for Wisconsin women's tennis at the Harvard Fall Invite and the Badgers return to Madison with more experience.
Wisconsin ended Sunday 4-2 in singles and 1-2 in doubles. Overall the Badgers put up an 11-8 singles mark and a 4-5 doubles record.
Sara Castellano finished off a perfect weekend, winning all three of her singles matches, while
Lexi Keberle won two of three at the Invite.
Michelle Linden and
Kelsey Grambeau also picked up singles victories on the final day.
Keberle improved her team-high win total, moving to 10-4 on the fall. Castellano is second on the UW wins list with a mark of 8-5 this fall.
Keberle handled Maria Josefina Zehnder of MTSU, 6-4, 6-3. Castellano flew by Constanze Megazzini of MTSU, 6-3, 6-2. Linden went two sets with Clara Falxa from Boston and ended with a 6-3, 7-5 victory. Wrapping up Wisconsin's singles victories was Grambeau, who knocked off Dani Blaser of Boston, 6-3, 6-4.
Castellano and Rompf won the sole doubles match for Wisconsin against a MTSU duo, 7-6, winning the final game tiebreaker 10-3.
Up next: The Badgers travel to their final fall tournament, the FSU All-conference showdown, held in Tallahassee, Florida. The tournament runs Nov. 10 through Nov. 12.

Badgers handle Pitt in day two
UW goes 5-2 in singles at Harvard Invite
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Following a first day in which the Wisconsin women's tennis team struggled to pick up both singles and doubles victories, the Badgers came back strong in day two. UW posted a mark of 5-2 in singles and 2-1 in doubles against Pittsburgh.
Competing in the Harvard Fall Invite, Wisconsin matched up against Pittsburgh on Saturday in both singles and doubles.
Lexi Keberle and
Sara Castellano each picked up singles wins for the Badgers Saturday.
MaryAnn Rompf,
Christina Zordani and
Kelsey Grambeau also snagged singles victories. Castellano and Rompf took one doubles match, while Pick and Zordani won the other.
Grambeau defeated Clara Lucas, 6-1 in her match. Zordani outlasted Natsumi Okamoto, 6-4, 6-7 (2), 7-6 (1). Rompf took Luisa Varon three sets, ultimately getting the victory, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3. Castellano also went three, beating Gabriela Rezende, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1. Keberle went two sets and knocked off Claudia Bartolome, 6-2, 6-3.
Wisconsin is set to play Middle Tennessee State and Boston University in singles and doubles on Sunday.

Castellano took Lexi Milunovich to three sets, getting the 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 victory. Pick handled Natasha Gonzalez in two sets, 6-3, 7-5.

For Wisconsin doubles, the duo of Rompf and Castellano picked up the Badgers' sole win, knocking off a Harvard combo, 6-4.

Wisconsin competed against Pittsburgh on Saturday, results will follow.
