MADISON, Wis. – After claiming the program's sixth WCHA regular season crown, seven members of the Wisconsin women's hockey team received season honors from the league on Thursday.
Freshman
Abby Roque was named the WCHA Rookie of the Year, while senior Ann-Renee Desbiens was named the league's goaltending champion for the third time in her career.

Annie Pankowski and senior
Jenny Ryan were All-WCHA First Team selections, while
Sarah Nurse earned second-team honors and
Emily Clark took home third-team accolades. Roque and fellow freshman
Mekenzie Steffen were two of six league newcomers to be selected for the WCHA All-Rookie Team.
Desbiens leads the NCAA in goals-against average (0.69), save percentage (.963), win percentage (.900) and shutouts (15). The La Malbaie, Quebec, native broke the NCAA record for career shutouts with 44 on Nov. 6, 2016 and currently has 53 career blank slates. Desbiens also garnered back-to-back WCHA Defensive Player of the Month honors for both January and February. An alternate captain for UW, Desbiens is the first Badger to be named the league's goaltending champion three times.
Pankowski paces the Badgers with 50 points on the season coming from 22 goals and 28 assists. A top-10 finalist for the 2017 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award, Pankowski also earned WCHA Scholar-Athlete honors for the second consecutive year. The junior winger was named the WCHA Offensive Player of the Week on Nov. 22, 2016, and the American Sports Network Player of the Week on Dec. 6, 2016. Pankowski tallied 27 points during a 12-game hot streak running from Dec. 4, 2016 to Feb. 4, 2017.
Ryan rounds out the Badgers' three All-WCHA First Team selections, as the alternate captain leads all UW defensemen in points with 21 from seven goals and 14 assists. Ryan also leads the team in minutes played and boasts a +35 plus/minus rating. The Victor, New York, native earned WCHA Scholar-Athlete honors for the third consecutive year.
Nurse, the WCHA Offensive Player of the Month for February, was selected to the All-WCHA Second Team after appearing on the Third Team last season. Nurse ranks second on the Badgers in scoring with 46 points from 23 goals and 23 assists. Nurse has tallied three hat tricks this season and was named the WCHA Offensive Player of the Week twice. The Hamilton, Ontario, native leads the Badgers in goals scored and her 23 assists are a career-best.
Clark, who was recently selected to Team Canada's roster for the IIHF World Championships, earned a spot on the All-WCHA Third Team. Clark has scored 17 goals and 25 assists this season for 42 points, ranking third in UW scoring. The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, native leads all Wisconsin skaters in plus/minus rating with +43. Clark became the 24th Badger in program history to reach 100 career points in January, and has earned WCHA Offensive Player of the Week recognition twice this season.
Roque, the fourth Badger be named WCHA Rookie of the Year, was one of two Wisconsin selections for the All-WCHA Rookie Team, along with Steffen. Roque, a native of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, leads all WCHA rookies with 27 points this season from eight goals and 19 assists. A three-time WCHA Rookie of the Week, Roque boasts a team-high four power-play goals and her .599 faceoff percentage is a league best among rookies.
Steffen earns All-WCHA Rookie honors after appearing in all 31 games for the Badgers, while recording a WCHA rookie-best plus/minus rating with +27. Steffen has 11 points this season from three goals and eight assists. Her 23 blocks are tied for the second-most by a Badger this year.
The WCHA also announced its academic team, which features Desbiens,

Lauren Williams. The 10 Badgers honored maintained a grade-point average of at least 3.00 for the previous two semesters or have a cumulative GPA above 3.00.
