1. PIN PARTY: Last weekend was a fun one for the Badgers. Wisconsin handled their two opponents, defeating Kent State 37-13, and CSU-Bakersfield 28-12. The highlight was the five pins secured by the Badgers against Kent State, including four consecutive pins from the 141 through 165 weight classes. Wisconsin will look to keep that aggressive strategy going into this weekend as well.
2. RANKED MATCHES GALORE: If you're looking for highly competitive wrestling matches, look no further than Wisconsin's three duals this weekend. The Badgers boast seven ranked wrestlers themselves, and will likely compete against seven ranked Nebraska wrestlers, and three apiece from Princeton and Utah Valley. In total, there will likely be 10 ranked matchups across the three duals, music to the ears of all wrestling fans.
3. IF YOU WANT TO BE THE BEST:Â The newest ranked Badger, No. 20 (FLO) junior Cole Martin, has the biggest challenge of the weekend when he faces No. 1 Matthew Kolodzik of Princeton on Sunday. Kolodzik is a two-time All-American and the favorite to win the NCAA Championship at 149 pounds. Martin will have an opportunity against Kolodzik to cement his ranked status.
4. ALL-TIME SERIES:Â Wisconsin holds a narrow lead in the all-time series against Nebraska, currently boasting a 10-9-2 record. A win on Friday would keep the series lead in the Badgers' favor, but a loss would tie it up for the Cornhuskers.
5. PROMOTIONSÂ Sunday's doubleheader will feature a lot of great wrestling, and there are some great promotions to take advantage of! Sunday is Youth Team Day, meaning youth teams from around the state can purchase group tickets at a discounted rate and attend the dual together. Tickets can be purchased online at uwbadgers.com, and will cost $5 for adults 18 and older, and only $3 for kids ages 17 and younger. The doubleheader is also Sunday Kids' Day, presented by Kohl's. All fans 12 and under will receive a FREE Wisconsin lunch bag!
