MADISON, Wis – After opening up the season 2-0 at the Big Ten/ACC Challenge last weekend, the eighth-ranked Wisconsin volleyball team returns to Madison for their home opener against No. 2 Texas at the UW Field House on Saturday. First serve is at 7 p.m. and the match airs live on the Big Ten Network.

1. HOME SWEET HOME: Wisconsin is 33-9-2 all time in home openers and have won its last two inaugural matches in the UW Field House. For the first time since 2008, the upper deck of the Field House will be open for fans. UW opened six sections of the upper deck for the 2018 season, upping the capacity of the Field House to 7,052, an increase of 1,050 fans.

2. SET FOR SUCCESS: Sophomore Sydney Hilley recorded back-to-back double-doubles on the weekend to average 10.29 assists and 3.43 digs per set. The 6-0 setter also recorded five service aces over two matches to share the Big Ten lead with 0.71 aces per set.

3. DOWN GOES TEXAS: Texas leads 4-3 all-time against the Badgers, but in the last 10 years it's Wisconsin who has come out victorious, going 2-0. UW played at then-No. 2 Texas on Sept. 18, 2016, coming back from a 0-2 deficit to defeat the Longhorns, 3-2. The Badgers also took down top-seeded Texas at the 2013 Final Four, 3-1, to advance to the championship game.

4. LUCKY NUMBER 13: After the first weekend of play, five Badgers set or tied 13 personal bests over the two matches. Sophomore Grace Loberg led the team with four personal bests—attack attempts (50), assists (2), service aces (2) and digs (15).

5. SCOUTING TEXAS: The second-ranked Longhorns began their 2018 season going 2-0 at the Vert Challenge in Lincoln, Nebraska. They defeated No. 18 Oregon, 3-1, and No. 7 Florida, 3-2. Junior outside hitter Micaya White, a 2017 third-team All-American, leads Texas with 3.33 kills per set so far this season. Sophomore setter Ashley Shook runs the offense and is averaging 10.78 assists per set and leads the Longhorns with two service aces.
