SEATTLE – Coming off the bench in both the first and second half, senior forward
Emily Borgmann was the hero for Wisconsin women's soccer, scoring in the 94th minute of Thursday's 2-1 overtime victory over Washington.
Washington (2-2 overall) struck first in the match, scoring in the 10th minute on Summer Yates' goal. Fellow sophomore
Lauren Rice got Wisconsin (3-1 overall) back to a tie with her own goal in the 21st minute off an assist from Stephanie Fabry.
Junior keeper
Jordyn Bloomer kept Wisconsin in the game; logging four saves on 16 Washington shots. The Badgers ended with 15 shots on the night and held an eight to five corner advantage.
Borgmann's goal was her second of the season; the first coming at Marquette in the team's season opener. Sophomore forward Cammie Murtha assisted on the Badgers' game-winning goal, giving the Maryland native her third assist in two games.
Murtha leads the team in assists while Rice leads the team in goals. The sophomore scored her third goal of the season against the Huskies, while Murtha logged her fourth assist of the season. Borgmann sits second on the team in goals, with two.
Up next: Wisconsin remains out west where it will take on Portland University on Sunday, Sept. 1. The game is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. CT.
