1. NUTTYCOMBE HISTORY: The Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational is named after Ed Nuttycombe, the winningest men's coach in Big Ten Conference history. The premiere meet is continually projected to be one of the toughest meets in the nation outside of the NCAA meet.
2. TOP RANKED TEAMS: The Thomas Zimmer Championship Course will be welcoming 19 of the top-30 men's teams from the USTFCCCA National Coaches' Poll and six of the top 10.
3. 2018 DOMINANCE: The Badgers dominated the course last year on both the men's and the women's side. Morgan McDonald and Alicia Monson both won their respective races. The men's team was able to secure a second-place finish with a score of 135.
4. USTFCCCA RANKINGS: The USTFCCCA National Coaches' Poll for week four placed Wisconsin at No. 19 nationally and No. 5 in the Great Lakes Region.
5. MICK'S MINUTE: "In terms of this coming weekend we're looking forward to hosting the Nuttycombe Invite. Traditionally, the best collegiate Division I meet in the country. It's always an exciting event and we're looking forward to some great performances out there. We have an incredible lineup of teams on the women's side (20) of the top 30 teams in the country, six of the top 10. On the men's side, 19 of the top 30 and again six of the top 10. Once again a great field. We always talk to our athletes about a great opportunity like this and particularly running at home, competing in front of their families and fan, it's a great opportunity and we need to take advantage of that opportunity.
"This is a great opportunity to show who we are... We're in good shape, now we need to just go and execute, and run like we're in good shape and be confident. This is our home course, and (we) don't (want to) spend too much energy worrying about all of the ranked teams. We got our butts kicked out in Notre Dame, we were the fourth Big Ten team (and) we're not happy with that. We were pretty vocal after the race... now that's in the past. We need to concentrate on who we are as a team. This is a great opportunity for some of our younger athletes. We have two freshmen going out there on Friday to get rid of the mistakes that were made two weeks ago and look forward to this great opportunity. Just concentrate on who we are as a program, as a team."
