Five things to know: No. 4 Badgers set to Battle on the Midway

MADISON, Wis. –
The Wisconsin wrestling team is set to kick off their season at the Battle on the Midway in San Diego, California on Friday. FloWrestling's No. 4 Badgers will face Fresno State at 11a.m. and Army at 1 p.m. on Broadway Pier. The highlight of the day takes place on the deck of the USS Midway as Wisconsin takes on Navy at 10 p.m. in the final dual.

1. A ROOKIE NO MORE: Badger head coach Chris bono is entering his second season with the team. Wisconsin went 9-6 under Bono last year and finished seventh in the Big Ten.  Bono led four NCAA qualifiers to the championship and helped the Badgers end the year ranked 17th.

2. OH, THAT'S GROSS!:Transferring from South Dakota State, redshirt senior Seth Gross joins the Badgers for his final collegiate season. FloWrestling has the former NCAA champion currently ranked at No. 1 in the 133 weight class. He will compete in a Badger singlet for the first time at the Battle of the Midway.

3. BADGERS THAT RANK: Wisconsin is ranked in the top-10 in four major polls. WIN Magazine and InterMat have Wisconsin at No. 3, FloWrestling has the Badgers at No. 4, and TrackWrestling lists the Badgers at No. 6.

4. PIER PRESSURE: The Battle of the Midway is one of the most unique matches in the wrestling world.Taking place on the deck of the USS Midway, a retired aircraft carriers, the third annual event will feature twin duals on the USS Midway Museum.

5. WICK'ED GOOD: Redshirt junior Evan Wick, Wisconsin's 165 pound wrestler, is currently ranked third on FloWrestling. The two-time All-American finished fourth in the Big Ten last year and third at the NCAA Championship
