Game Coverage

December 4 | 8:15 p.m. CT | PNC Arena | Raleigh, NC.

MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin men's basketball team travels to Raleigh, North Carolina to take on the NC State Wolfpack as part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Wednesday. Tip is set for 8:15 p.m. CT on ESPN 2.

1) RELIABLE REUVERS: Wisconsin has received consistent production from junior forward Nate Reuvers. The Minnesota native is averaging 15.4 points per game and 5.7 rebounds per game over UW's first seven contests. Reuvers has also emerged as an elite defensive presence tallying 18 blocks on the season. The dynamic big man now has 104 rejections in his career, which ranks 7th on UW's all-time list.

2) BATTLING THE BEST: Wisconsin faces a challenging slate of opponents in the coming weeks. The Badgers will go head-to-head with ACC powerhouse NC State Wednesday night, undefeated Indiana on Dec. 7 in the Kohl Center. UW's non-conference schedule ranks as the 12th-toughest in the nation, according to a system developed by Matt Norlander/CBS Sports. The formula's point system takes into consideration games: vs. preseason top-25 KenPom teams (2 points), vs. preseason 26-50 KenPom teams (1), road games (2), neutral-court (1), vs. 2019 NCAA tournament teams (0.5), sub-200 KenPom teams (-1).

3) ROAD WARRIORS: Wisconsin is renowned for its home success at the Kohl Center, but the Badgers have also been quite dominant on the road in recent seasons. UW is 73-45 away from home (road and neutral) over the last seven seasons. Since 2001-02, the Badgers have tallied 107 true road wins, the top mark in the Big Ten. Wisconsin's .535 overall road winning percentage is also the top mark among Big Ten teams

4) THE WOLFPACK: The Badgers enter a difficult road environment at PNC Arena against NC State.  The Wolfpack are 5-2 entering Wednesday night's showdown following a narrow 78-83 loss against No. 16 Memphis on Nov. 28. NC State is led by redshirt senior C.J. Bryce who is averaging 16.1 points per game, 7.3 rebounds per game and nearly two steals per game. This will be the second time in as many seasons that UW will be squaring off against NC State. Wisconsin grabbed a 79-75 victory over the Wolfpack at the Kohl Center last season in which the Badgers used a 50-point second-half surge to rally and win their matchup in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

5) SENIOR PRIME: Wisconsin has received significant contributions off the bench from senior Brevin Pritzl. The De Pere native posted the first double-double of his career with 15 points and a career-high 13 rebounds against Marquette on November 17. Pritzl has grabbed 5+ rebounds in four of seven games this year, while averaging 8.3 points per game as a reserve for the Badgers.

LAST TIME OUT
Wisconsin 50, New Mexico 59

The Badgers dropped their second-straight game at the Roman Legends Classic to the Wolfpack in Brooklyn, New York last Tuesday.
  • New Mexico shot 44% from the field (22-for-50), and 23.1% from 3 (3-for-13), while Wisconsin was 18-for-53 (34%) overall and 7.7% from 3 (2-for-26).
  • Nate Reuvers led the Badgers in scoring with 16 points and five rebounds.
  • The Badgers and Lobos tied the rebounding battle with 34 apiece.

SERIES VS. NC STATE
  • Wednesday's game will mark the fourth-ever meeting between Wisconsin and NC State, with the Badgers taking each of the first three contests.
  • The Badgers and Wolfpack have met twice previously in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge with Wisconsin claiming wins in 2010 and 2018. This will be the teams' first meeting in Raleigh. UW defeated the Wolfpack, 87-48, in 2010 with Jon Leuer (22 points) and Jordan Taylor (21 points) leading the way. Last season, Ethan Happ led four Badgers in double figures as the Badgers erased a 12-point second-half deficit.
  • Wisconsin's 39-point win over NC State in 2010 is the third-most lopsided game in Big Ten/ACC Challenge history and the largest by a Big Ten school. It trails only Virginia's 94-52 win over Northwestern in 2007 and Florida State's 97-57 win over Purdue in 2005.
  • The Badgers also knocked off NC State, 65-56, in the 2005 NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 in Syracuse, N.Y. Current assistant coach Alando Tucker scored a game-high 22 points in that contest.
BIG TEN/ACC CHALLENGE
  • Wisconsin is 10-10 all-time in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge, equaling Purdue for the most wins by a Big Ten team in the event.
  • The Badgers are 2-1 in their last three road games during the challenge. UW's last road victory came in 2015 when the Badgers stunned No. 14 Syracuse on their home floor 66-58 in overtime.
NCAA TOURNAMENT REGULARS
  • Wisconsin is one of five schools to participate in 20 of last 21 NCAA tournaments, joining Kansas, Duke, Michigan State and Gonzaga.
  • That stretch includes a run of 19 consecutive NCAA tournament appearances, which is the 6th-longest stretch in NCAA history.
  • The Badgers are one of three teams to reach the Sweet 16 in six of the last nine seasons, advancing to the tournament's second weekend in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. Kansas and Kentucky are the only other 2 schools to reach six of the last nine seasons.
