MADISON, Wis. — The list of bowl possibilities for the Wisconsin football team appears to be expanding in a good way.
In the wake of the Badgers advancing to the Big Ten Conference title game and moving up to No. 8 in the College Football Playoff rankings, multiple forecasters have them playing in a New Year's Six Bowl, either the Rose or the Cotton.

CBS Sports and Bleacher Report predict Wisconsin (10-2 overall) to go to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, on Jan. 1 to face either Oregon (CBS Sports) or Utah (Bleacher Report).
Athlon, The Athletic and Stadium College Football have the Badgers matched against Memphis in the Cotton Bowl in Irving, Texas, on Dec. 28.
Wisconsin's assignment will be known after it faces Ohio State (12-0) in the Big Ten Championship Game at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Saturday.
If the Badgers upset the No. 1 team in the CFP ranking, avenging a 38-7 loss during the regular season, they will most likely secure a berth in the Rose Bowl for the 10th time in program history.
If Wisconsin loses, its bowl fate will be left to the CFP committee. The committee already made a significant statement Tuesday when it slotted the Badgers two spots head of Penn State (10-2).
If the Buckeyes win in convincing fashion, it's possible Wisconsin could drop behind the Nittany Lions. However, that would run counter to the committee's approach in previous seasons. According to Jerry Palm of CBS Sports, the loser of a conference championship game has never dropped below another team from the same league that didn't already have a better record prior to the conference title game.
According to the CFP committee, the Badgers have a well-balanced club with three top-25 wins (Iowa, Michigan and Minnesota). Their biggest blemish is a one-point road loss to Illinois, which is bowl eligible.
