MADISON, Wis. – Entering its second consecutive three-match weekend the Wisconsin women's tennis team got things going right where they left off. UW welcomed in Marquette and blanked them, 7-0 Friday evening.
Freshman
Ava Markham gave UW (4-0) its first singles point in an impressive 6-0, 6-0 victory over Marquette's (2-1) Lesley Foe. Finishing next for the Badgers was No. 31
Sara Castellano, defeating Natalija Popovic at the top slot.
Securing the victory for Wisconsin was No. 46
Lexi Keberle, defeating Fleur Eggink, 6-4, 6-0, giving Wisconsin's fourth point.
UW began the match with a 1-0 lead after grabbing the doubles point behind No. 1 duo of Castellano and Keberle and No. 3 doubles of Markham and junior
Christina Zordani moved on with 6-1 and 6-2 victories.

Melissa Pick also grabbed singles victories for UW. Makarova defeated Milica Novakovic 2-6, 6-2, 10-2. Rompf defeated Isabella Franks, 7-5, 7-5 and Pick defeated Alexandra Chinikova in a thrilling 6-7, 7-5, 10-8.
Up next: Wisconsin takes part in a Saturday doubleheader at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium by hosting Iowa State and Northern Illinois. Matches are scheduled for 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Admission is free.
