NCAA Semifinal Coverage

Friday, March 22 | 6 pm CT — Hamden, Conn.

MADISON, Wis. – The No. 1 Wisconsin women's hockey team will make its sixth-straight NCAA Frozen Four appearance on Friday night when the Badgers take on No. 4 Clarkson in the semifinals of the 2019 NCAA Frozen Four. Puck drop at the People's United Center in Hamden, Connecticut, is set for 6 p.m. CT.

Fans can watch the game on BTN and BTN2Go and can also listen to the game in the Madison area on 100.9 FM as Reid Magnum and Mark Greenhalgh have the call.

For UW fans coming to Hamden, there will be plenty of fan events in the area leading up to the NCAA Frozen Four.

1. HEADING BACK TO THE FROZEN FOUR: Wisconsin makes its sixth-straight appearance at the NCAA Frozen Four this weekend, a streak that started in 2014, the last time the women's hockey championship was in Hamden, Connecticut. UW's streak is tied for the longest in NCAA history with Minnesota, who advanced to six Frozen Fours from 2012-17, a streak UW halted last year with a 4-0 triumph in the NCAA quarterfinal round.

2. WHAT A D: The Badgers defense has been stellar this year, leading the country in scoring defense. UW has 11 shutouts this year and is holding teams to an average of 1.10 goals per game. In addition, the Badgers have given up three or more goals in only three games this year and haven't done so since surrendering three goals in a 3-1 setback at Minnesota on Jan. 19. Kristen Campbell leads the country with a 1.09 goals-against average, nine shutouts and 33 wins.

3. SUCCESS IN CONNECTICUT: UW is 4-1 all-time in games held in the state of Connecticut after sweeping UConn during the 2002-03 season and Quinnipiac during the 2004-05 season. The only time the Badgers have dropped a game in the Nutmeg State was at the 2014 NCAA Frozen Four when UW lost a 5-3 contest to Border Battle rival Minnesota.

4. AGAINST THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS: Wisconsin leads the all-time series with Clarkson 3-1-1 with the first meeting between the two powers coming during the 2014-15 season. UW had a three-game winning streak against the Golden Knights until CU bested UW, 3-0, in the 2017 NCAA Frozen Four title game. Annie Pankowski netted her second career hat trick in UW's 4-0 win against CU on Jan. 25, 2015, her freshman year for the Badgers, while Presley Norby has three points against the Golden Knights, including the game-winning goal in UW's 4-1 win on Oct. 15, 2016.

5. PANKOWSKI LOVES THE POSTSEASON: Annie Pankowski has been on a tear this postseason with an NCAA-best eight goals. The WCHA Player of the Year, Pankowski has scored at least a goal in each of UW's five post-season contests this year while her 10 points are also tied for the most this postseason. The Laguna Hills, California, native has three game-winning goals during the postseason, including the game-winning goal against Syracuse last week. In addition, her 18 career post-season goals rank third in school history behind UW greats Meghan Duggan and Hilary Knight.
