Badgers’ Big Ten tournament run ends in semifinals

No. 40 UW falls 4-0 to No. 30 Illinois on Saturday
LINCOLN, Neb. – The No. 40 Wisconsin women's tennis team saw its Big Ten championship run draw to a close on Saturday as the Badgers fell 4-0 to No. 30 Illinois in the semifinals of the 2019 Big Ten Women's Tennis Tournament at the Dillon Tennis Center.
After dropping the doubles point to the Fighting Illini (16-10), the Badgers (18-5) were unable to claw their way back into the match in singles action as Illinois picked up wins at No. 1, No. 4 and No. 6 singles.
The match was halted moments before Anna Makarova had a chance to earn a point for UW as the sophomore had a 6-3, 5-2 lead on the third court.

The Badgers will look to hear their name called on Monday during the NCAA selection show at 5:30 p.m. CT. UW looks to make its first appearance to the NCAA tournament since the 2005 season.
